Concessions removed on away ticket prices for supporters coming to Molineux.

Ciaran Barker, Wolves 1877 Trust FSA representative highlights another area of change in the clubs ticketing policy.

It has recently come to the attention of the Wolves 1877 Trust, through our ongoing participation and involvement with the Football Supporters Association (FSA) and the Premier League Network Group, that Wolves have removed over 65 concessionary pricing for away fans visiting Molineux this season.

While on the face of it this may not directly affect Wolves supporters, it is likely that other clubs will reciprocate and remove concessionary prices for travelling Wolves fans .

The pricing structure (or lack of), mirrors that of the central area of the Billy Wright Upper Tier for home fans, where supporters pay the same price per seat regardless of age. This is of course an issue that is causing concern among the fanbase despite it only affecting a small number of supporters, and now even more Wolves fans may face increased ticket prices for over 65’s because of the club’s decision.

As a Trust and a group of Wolves fans, there can certainly be no blame placed on opposition clubs imposing such pricing strategies on Wolves fans if Wolves are to do the same to others. The Trust’s immediate priority is to open dialogue with the club on this matter and question the thinking behind the decision. It is yet another off-field decision taken by the club that will no doubt cause further frustration across the fanbase, particularly those that travel away on a regular basis in the affected age groups. The club do not seem to be taking full consideration of the implications on supporters when making decisions, in isolation, and are instead taking every opportunity to maximise revenue. The club have, for obvious reasons, not announced this, and it is only through dialogue with the Tottenham Hotspur Supporters Trust (THST) and the FSA that this information has been brought to the Trust’s attention.

The Trust board felt that this is an important matter that the wider fanbase should be made aware of, we raised the matter with the club and received a copy of the response they have been giving Spurs fans:

‘’Thanks for your email. Tickets for supporters over the age of 65 in the Steve Bull stand are usually priced at £30.50 and adults at £47, however as per the Premier League regulations, tickets for away supporters are capped at £30 which is why there is no difference between the adult and senior price offered to Tottenham supporters on this occasion. If there is anything else we can assist with, please get in touch. We look forward to welcoming you to Molineux’’

The trust does not believe this response is in the spirit of the £30.00 price cap agreed amongst Premier League clubs, THST have escalated this to the FSA and we intend to raise it again with the club, along with the issue of the Billy Wright concessions.
