Trust calls for ticket price freeze

Wolves 1877 Trust are urging Wolves to introduce a ticket price freeze for the 2022/23 season.

Supporters have seen massive increases in domestic energy bills, mortgage rate rises and cost of living increases running at 5.4% (comparative to December 2021), with the rate of inflation forecast to rise to 7% (https://commonslibrary.parliament.uk/research-briefings/cbp-9428/). In contrast the club have enjoyed the benefit of increased ticket revenue through price increases across all categories at the start of the 2021/22 season.

The trust are therefore appealing for the club to extend (it’s) its ‘one pack’ philosophy to hard-pressed supporters and freeze ticket price increases for next season.

Trust board member, Neil Dady, commented ‘’It’s no longer reasonable for football clubs to expect supporters to continue to subsidise the excesses that exist within the game. Wolves increased prices last season without supporter consultation, under the guise of comparative price matching, increasing prices again for next season is unnecessary. Particularly at such a difficult time for so many supporters’’

The trust are seeking early assurances from the club that they will freeze 2022/23 ticket prices in all categories – season tickets and match day tickets.

The trust has also expressed concern about the current membership scheme that has seen many members not receiving their ‘gift’ for many months after the season had started.

Trust Chairman, Sam Payne, said ‘’It’s time the club scrapped the ‘members pack’ and replaced it with a voucher scheme for the club shop. The club need to consider if members are now getting ‘value for money’ with the changes introduced last season. I would hope to also see a favourable offer to Season Ticket holders as well.’’
