wolves 1877 trust welcomes new FA rules

FSA

The FA have said that it will be introducing new rules to protect the heritage of football clubs in the men’s and women’s games.

The new rules will protect a club’s crest and home kit colours and require any club seeking to substantially change to consult with supporters.

These rules changes follow on rom the Premier League introducing a requirement for club’s to establish a fan engagement board - www.wolves1877trust.co.uk/news/wolves-1877-trust-welcomes-the-introduction-of-fan-engagement-boards

These two developments underpins the role of the Trust in respect of supporter consultation with the club, discussions have begun to agree a way forward in both areas.

The FA rule change whilst being welcome does not fulfil all the requirements of the ‘golden share’ as detailed in the Fan Led Review of Governance within football which would extend to the sale of the club, sale or relocation of the stadium or joining a new competition (European Super League). Th e Trust will continue to support the Football Supporters Association (FSA) in calling on Government to fully implement the findings of the Fan Led Review including an independent regulator for football (IREF).

Trust FSA representative Ciaran Barker gave evidence to the Fan Led Review regarding cultural heritage:
