Wolves Women V AFC Fylde - Sunday 8th January 2023

Wolves 1877 Trust is disappointed that the Football Association Women’s National League (FAWNL) only decided on the 2nd January 2023 to confirm, via the FA Full Time website, that Wolves will be playing AFC Fylde on Sunday 8th January.

This is inappropriately short notice and does not consider the fans of Wolves, and AFC Fylde, wishing to attend the game, especially just after the expense of Christmas amidst the ongoing cost of living crisis.

This game could have been announced before Christmas, officials were aware from the 19th December onwards, that neither Wolves or AFC Fylde had a match on the 8th January.  To leave the announcement this late does not help the game grow and seems contradictory to the aspirations within the FAWNL strategy.

At a minimum the announcement should have been made across all social media channels, rather than just on the FA Full Time website. The game is nothing without fans and all decisions should be made with them in mind, including publicising fixture arrangements.

The Trust hopes, that going forward the FAWNL Committee will bear this in mind when they next rearrange fixtures and that Wolves will use all of it’s social media channels to promote Wolves Women fixtures.
