Wolves 1877 Trust welcomes the introduction of Fan Engagement boards

FSA

Premier League members' rules have been updated for the 2022/23 season to include a significant step forward in respect of fan engagement.

The rule change requires all Premier League clubs to:

  1. Establish an advisory group to consider issues relevant to its supporters and supporter engagement (a ‘’Fan Advisory Board’’).

  2. Nominate a board-level official to oversee fan engagement and be accountable to the board for effective delivery of relevant Club policy(ies) and the operation of the Fan Advisory Board.

Whilst this rule change represents a significant step forward to establish Fan Engagement Boards (FAB) it should not be seen as a fulfilment of the recommendations of the Fan Led Review (FLR) of Governance within Football, the Trust will continue to support the Football Supporters Association in campaigning for the full implementation of the FLR including independent regulation of football (IREF).

The Trust has issued a supporter consultation document to the club that sets out our proposed methodology for introducing a FAB at Wolves.

Trust Board member and FSA National Council Member Neil Dady comments ‘’Wolves, amongst other Premier League clubs, can be seen as progressive in the way they are developing Fan Engagement across a range of supporter interests; the Fan Engagement Board is seen by us as the next step in establishing structured dialogue  for the benefit of the club and supporters, we look forward to continuing this work with the club’’

The Trust's Consultation Document can be downloaded from the Members' area of our website.
